“Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights…” James 1:17
This last year was full of gifts! Christie stepped into a brand-new calling as the full-time Hudson Family C.O.O. (Chief Operating Officer), a role that runs on equal parts faith, caffeine, and love. Shortly after, we welcomed our newest little gift, Archer Gideon, and life’s been even fuller — and louder — ever since! It’s hard to believe that we could overflow with even more personality! And somewhere between diapers and devotionals, our family tree grew another branch when Christie gained a beautiful sister-in-law — a gift we had been praying for and finally got to meet. None of us could ever have imagined how much of a blessing she would be to our family. Not only to mention, praise the Lord for adding another girl to this boy-heavy lineup!
All of these wonderful changes, fill us with gratitude and awe at the goodness of God. He never ceases to give us good gifts from above. As we creep closer to Black Friday and Cyber Monday (for those of you that don’t love the adrenaline high of Christmas Eve shopping mayhem) and begin to sort through all of the Christmas lists your kids have carefully curated or in our case, continually grow all year long. Take some time to consider the joy we feel in giving gifts. Especially giving to our loved ones…to our children.
We feel anticipation of the look of awe in their eyes. That excitement in the air as we sneak bags into the house and stash the gifts away to await the appointed time. Sure, they would love to have those gifts now! But we know deep down that the waiting and trusting in the giver is part of the magic. Just consider the joy God feels as He plans his perfect, timely gifts for His children. Maybe it’s something you’ve had on your list or maybe it’s something that you can’t even begin to imagine! May we reflect on our gifts from the Father with gratitude and awe. May we look forward in anticipation and gratitude without knowing what He has in store for us next.
